Corporate Engagements
The modern workplace has experienced seismic change, and today there are more demands than ever on Product Leaders. This shift requires a new approach to leadership development that traditional training can’t deliver. Of course, Product Leaders need an outstanding understanding of Product tools and techniques, but today’s leaders must also possess high levels of human skills and emotional intelligence too. Qualities like empathy, self-awareness, organisational awareness and conflict resolution are crucial to building trust and cultivating relationships across the business. These skills create agile, adaptive organisations with cultures of learning and development. And, an organisation that aligns their leadership development strategy to their business strategy is one that will deliver results.
Coaching is personal
Relationship-based leadership coaching is uniquely able to support modern Product Leaders to develop. Unlike leadership training courses which offer an-off-the-shelf approach to learning, coaching offers a truly bespoke approach to an individual or team’s challenges. Coaching meets the leader where they are, not where an instructor expects them to be. A recent Harvard Business Review report found that 88% of their respondents felt that there was a unique value in this more personalised approach to leadership development.
Coaching delivers impact
There are so many challenges faced by senior leaders and, with a scarcity of close confidantes 'at the top', it can feel overwhelming. TED talks and leadership training have limited impact, especially when juggling a relentless schedule, stakeholder dynamics and an always-on culture. Indeed, while traditional ‘classroom-style’ leadership training is still the most widely used development tool, the Harvard Business Review research ranked it at the bottom in terms of effectiveness with just 55% of responders describing it as “somewhat effective”. In comparison, relationship-based development, while less prolific, is considered much more effective, with 60% stating leadership coaching was “very or extremely effective”.
Coaching accelerates development
The Harvard Business Review found that organisations integrating both traditional leadership training AND highly personalised coaching are the most effective. Coaching provides an accelerant to fast-track leadership development and organisations that deploy this form of coaching report better collaboration/ teamwork (53%), increased employee engagement (46%), improved team performance (42%) and greater emotional intelligence (42%). Ultimately, relationship-based leadership coaching surpasses traditional leadership training in terms of results.
